1. What RainSplit is

RainSplit is a tool for tracking shared expenses: trips, rent, dinners, subscriptions, whatever you split with other people. It records who paid, how much, and who owes what.

RainSplit does not move money. It doesn't process payments, hold balances, or connect to your bank account. When you “settle up” in the app, you're recording that a payment happened outside of RainSplit: over UPI, cash, bank transfer, or however you actually paid each other. RainSplit just keeps the ledger straight.

2. Your account

You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for anything that happens under your account. If you sign up with a password, make it a good one. If you notice anything suspicious, like a login you don't recognize or expenses you didn't add, let us know.

You need to be old enough, under the law where you live, to enter into this kind of agreement.

3. Groups, expenses, and other people

When you add someone to a group or record an expense involving them, you're representing information about a real transaction between real people. Don't use RainSplit to log fake debts, harass someone, or misrepresent who owes what. Group members can see the expenses and balances within groups they belong to. That's the whole point of the app, so don't add anyone to a group without their knowledge.

4. Acceptable use

Basically: don't be destructive. More specifically, please don't:

• Try to break, overload, or reverse-engineer the service
• Use RainSplit for anything illegal, fraudulent, or harmful
• Scrape or bulk-extract data that isn't yours
• Impersonate someone else or misrepresent your identity

5. Your content, your data

The expenses, groups, and notes you create belong to you. We store them so the app can function and so you can export them (CSV/PDF) whenever you want. See the Privacy Policy for the full picture of what's collected and why.

6. It's free, for now

RainSplit is currently free to use. If that ever changes for specific features, we'll tell you clearly before charging anything. No surprise bills.

7. No warranties, limited liability

RainSplit is provided “as is.” We work to keep it reliable and your data safe, but we can't promise the app will always be error-free, uninterrupted, or perfectly accurate. Software has bugs, and math on the internet is still math on the internet. To the extent the law allows, RainSplit isn't liable for indirect damages, lost data, or disputes between you and the people you split expenses with. RainSplit keeps the record. If a group disagrees about who owes what, that's between the people in the group.

8. Ending your account

You can stop using RainSplit any time. If you'd like your account and data deleted, email hello@rainsplit.com and we'll take care of it. We may also suspend or remove accounts that clearly violate these terms.

9. Changes to these terms

If these terms change in a meaningful way, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use RainSplit after a change means you accept the updated terms.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
